MEDICAL TEAM SET UP THE HEALTH POST
Back in Kathmandu for a night after a week on our trip to Bankenjee. We cut the opening ribbons to the new health clinic, did health assessments on 70+ villagers, taught the kids toothbrushing and hand washing! What an experience. Love the people and the whole experience. The village had a dance party the night before we left. Lots of work to be done to establish health care in the village, but it was a great start! I’ll be back!

PHASE II: HEALTH POST
Drove to Bhandar on rough road for 12 hours with Minky (my wife), Peter & Jennie Mcguire and then next day a 8 hour trek to Bhakanjee.
The purpose of this trip to Bhakanjee was to inspect the school toilet that was constructed last year and to confirm the proposed site for the construction of the much needed health post. Three team members from the village was appointed to initiate and manage the construction of the health post. We are hopeful that the health post will be completed and set up by the end of the year. The school children and the villagers were all very happy for the school toilet that has made their life a bit easier and healthier. Also we distributed stationaries to the school children.
All this has happened with the contribution made by all of you. Bhakanjee says THANK YOU!
The Final Stages of the School Toilet Construction
School Toilet and Bath near completion
Construction of the School Toilet and Bath in progress:
Shyam returned from his village with the following pictures. These are photographs of the construction work of the school toilet and shower room that we have committed to build with the funds contributed from all of you. We hope to complete the entire work much before the monsoon and then step into the next phase, which would be constructing a small health post in Bhakanjee.
Once again THANK YOU to everyone of you who made this possible. We will keep you updated in course of time.
Our Trip to Bhakanjee
FIRST PHASE OF THE CONSTRUCTION BEGINS
The school toilets and bath building construction has commenced and the ground base work has started. Photos of the work in progress will be updated as soon as i receive it from Bhakanjee. Since there is no net and wifi out there the pictures will have to arrive Kathmandu in a pen drive physically. Meanwhile the design of the toilet/bath drawn by my friend Kailash from Sikkim is on the blog. Any comment is appreciated.
